Square Enix has published a press release (reported by Famitsu) stating that Final Fantasy XIV will have 18 classes at release. Along with this, they have updated the armoury section of the FFXIV website. With only 7 combat classes and 11 gathering/crafting classes, Square Enix leaves themselves a lot of room to add more combat related classes. Lets hope we get more combat oriented classes soon after release. The 18 classes we’ll have at release are:

Marauder

Archer

Lancer

Disciples of Magic (caster classes)

Conjurer

Thaumaturge

Disciples of the Land (gathering classes)

Miner

Botanist

Fisher

Disciples of the Hand (crafting classes)
